hinata had her head bowed, embarrassed and sad at what happened. she stood before him with a little more than a black eye and she tried not to show that she was shaken. he was disappointed with her - she could tell. “i-it wasn’t my fault!” she protested, touching the tender area on her skin, flinching a little. “all i did…was try to get the old lady’s cat from the tree and i hit a branch,” she said although that wasn’t all. she had been also robbed of the little money she had saved up, hence her black eye. but she didn’t want to worry madara even more. she was enough of a disappointment as is.
“Child,” Madara’s hand came up underneath her chin and tilted her head up, looking over her face, “Do not lie to me. Such things are easily seen through.”
He was sure that something else happened, he knew that Hinata was more than capable of using chakra to affix herself to the tree, seeing as he taught her himself. “Tell me what happened, and I’ll help you. Whatever it is.”
“Keep your head up, Hinata. Don’t let it weigh on you-- nothing will change what I think.”
